Getting Ready

This week we are gearing up for two weekends of community festivals 
where we will be selling #bethegood shirts.


(Katie working on sorting the pre-orders of the
 #maroonandgold (#Redskins #Brunswick) and 
#orangeandblack (#Orioles #Middletown) #bethegood shirts.)

We are thankful for the 550+ shirts we have already sold, 
and are hoping to sell just a few more to finish raising the money
for the Child Fee ($9,000). 

We also ordered this banner to hang at our booth, 
hoping the #bethegood logo draws people's attention. 

We will have shirts and blocks at our booth, 
as well as these super cute ornaments our friend Terry is doing as a fundraiser!


We are so thankful for this fundraiser 
that helps us as we seek to bring our son home!


Something else awesome happened this week! 
We asked three friends to write recommendations for our Dossier, 
(in addition to the three that wrote recommendations for our Home Study)
and we got two of the three back.
(The third will be here shortly!)

Yet another step towards bringing our son home!


Thank you all for the amazing ways you help us 
work towards bringing our son home from Haiti.

The Long Winding Road

Today, the girls and I were heading out to camp on a long winding road. We began the conversation about our Haiti Baby. "Mom," Eden (9) asked, "Will our Haiti baby have a mom and dad in Haiti?" "Maybe," I reply. And the conversation began - again - about the realities of orphans in third world countries. "Maybe his mom and dad died," Bethany - who is 5, replied. "Maybe," I muster. "Or maybe his mom and dad don't have enough food and water to take care of him," Eden finishes. Leaving the small town we live in, we have to eventually turn onto a narrow road, barely enough space for two lanes. Our conversation shifts. To thoughts about how we are called to do the work of justice and of mercy. Of not just opening our hearts and homes to orphans, but also the call to the hard work of orphan prevention.
