One Step Forward, 10 Steps Back

Every day feels like one step forward and 10 steps back.

Thought we had a lead on an agency that might be willing to take us under their wing. They are taking several other families... but when I called today, I learned they don't have a Haiti program.

Thankful for the kind woman who took time from her day to hear our whole story. Who took time to speak the words that this is unacceptable. Took the time to say that she wishes that a path was more clear for all of us. Who took time to send us the information she has received even if it doesn't directly apply to us.

And then... to tell me that she would be praying for our family by name.

This is a mess. A mess made by human hands. A mess of sinful, brokenness that is causing harm to children who are waiting for their families and families who have been waiting for their children. It is a mess that is going to cost us thousands of dollars you have generously given to us an we have worked hard to save and raise. This is a mess caused by greed and selfishness and sin...

But thankful that even in the mess (and perhaps especially?) or God is working to bring Resurrection.

That even though we are having a hard time keeping our heads up, God is using our BIG GOD FAMILY to bring us glimpses of HOPE and PROMISE and FUTURE.

That on every side we are hemmed in... behind and before... (Psalm 139). That in the end... this is going to be an amazing story of God's victory. Something not made by human hands but only possible by God.

  1. Hello, I saw your interview with NewsNet5 and was compelled to respond. I too have been a client of EAC for over five years now. I have been trying for over five years to adopt a child from Bulgaria. It has been extremely difficult with false promises and fee upon fee over the years. <y only wish was to give a child a better life and all the love in the world. I am extremely saddened by these turn of events and don't know where to turn. Could you contact me at schoolteach111@yahoo.com? I pray that you will be able to finalize the adoption of your child from Haiti.
