It is time for our check ups!

(I have been watching Doc McStuffins with the girls!)


Chris and I went first- blood tests and physicals, for both our home study and our dossier. For some reason Haiti is specific about the blood tests too. HIV, std's and TP are all required. So we gave a bit of blood and got all checked out!

Then today, I had to take the girls for our Home study. 

The had physicals done for school earlier this year, so it was just a brief check up and having paperwork signed. No blood tests or shots- thankfully.

We are so blessed by our doctor's office.
They could have charged us an arm and a leg, but they didn't. They could have complained about twice the amount of paperwork, but they didn't. They asked wonderful and encouraging questions and told us they can't wait to meet our son.

We are so blessed by this community God has given us!

The Long Winding Road

Today, the girls and I were heading out to camp on a long winding road. We began the conversation about our Haiti Baby. "Mom," Eden (9) asked, "Will our Haiti baby have a mom and dad in Haiti?" "Maybe," I reply. And the conversation began - again - about the realities of orphans in third world countries. "Maybe his mom and dad died," Bethany - who is 5, replied. "Maybe," I muster. "Or maybe his mom and dad don't have enough food and water to take care of him," Eden finishes. Leaving the small town we live in, we have to eventually turn onto a narrow road, barely enough space for two lanes. Our conversation shifts. To thoughts about how we are called to do the work of justice and of mercy. Of not just opening our hearts and homes to orphans, but also the call to the hard work of orphan prevention.
